Converteam designs and manufactures both Load Commutated Inverters (LCI) and Voltage Source Inverters (VSI) covering a wide range of voltages from 400V up to 33kV and powers 100kVA to 96MVA.
The LCI technology used in the SD7000 Drive family by Converteam offers N+1 redundancy switching bridges for high MTBF in critical processes. Main applications are Synchronous Motor Speed Control, Start-up Converters and Controlled Rectifiers.
Converteam’s leading VSI technology using state-of-the-art press-pack IEGT components is implemented in the MV7000 Drive family. It achieves exceptional power density of about 1.55MVA per cubic meter together with high PWM switching frequency allowing high-speed motor control (up to 20000 rpm) for gas compression. Thanks to the IEGT technology capability to switch off short-circuit currents, the drives are fuseless, providing robustness and reliability.
Furthermore, we are now introducing two topologies; the first eliminates the need for input transformer for voltages up to 9.9kV with the associated savings in terms of cost, weight and footprint; the second is a new active front end arrangement the “Green Front End” delivering low harmonics content and unity power factor at low cost.
