AKG series designed to comply with ATEX directive
When chemical or petrochemical products are being manufactured, stored, transported or handled in general, gas, vapours or mists may be given off which may be explosive in certain mix ratios with air. Explosion-protected electrical equipment must be used in areas where these explosive mixes may occur.
Converteam’s AKG series is designed for hazardous area (Eex d) up to group II-C. They are ATEX certified per the latest directive 94/9/EC.
The AKG motors are Explosion proof Eex d, totally enclosed fan cooled motors for medium voltage application from 2,000 to 11,000 Volt at 50 or 60Hz. Motors at other voltages and frequencies are available on special request.
The motors are available in 4 shaft heights:
- 355mm
- 400mm
- 450mm
- 500mm
with mechanical arrangements:
- IM 1001
- IM B3
- IM 3011
- IM V1
The motors are fitted with grease-lubricated or oil-lubricated bearings. On request, all these motors can be fitted with ring self-lubricated sleeve bearings (except for II-C applications).
Corrosion protection: these motors are given special protective treatment to withstand corrosive atmospheres, based upon polyurethane coating. They are fitted with chromate conversion coated zinc plated screws and bolts.
