Converteam Reaches the 30MW Milestone In New ProSolar Inverter
![]() |
Berlin, 6 August 2010 – Six months after the launch of its new ProSolar central inverter, Converteam has sold more than 30MW of its solution. The ProSolar portfolio covers indoor and outdoor versions as well as containerized power stations. The power of the new series ranges from 500kWp up to 1.5MW. The latest contract with the German Energiequelle GmbH comprises three times one 1MW power station and one 1.5MW power station for a PV-plant.
Converteam’s inverter technology is particularly attractive to medium and large-scale photovoltaic power plants as it enables to minimize the level of expenditure required for the electrical infrastructure due to its design with input voltages of more than 1,000V.
Converteam’s entry into the solar market builds on its experience of wind and of other markets such as oil and gas, offshore or industry. In the wind segment, Converteam has powered so far around 15GW of wind turbines with converters.
Editor’s note:
Plant operators can make significant savings, particularly in terms of investment in power lines, buildings, fuses, and power electronics. With their excellent efficiency of up to 98 percent, ProSolar systems are extremely economical. This is partly thanks to the liquid-cooled power electronics, which can feed power into the grid with the necessary level of stability even at high temperatures of up to 55°C. In addition, the inverters meet the requirements of the latest version of the medium-voltage directive issued by the Bundesverbandes der Energie- und Wasserwirtschaft e.V. – BDEW (German Federal Association for Energy and Water) and help ensure the system stability of the electricity supply network thanks to their active approach to DC-link voltage control.
