Performance and profitability of cargo ships can be increased with Converteam's booster mode solution. Booster/ Power-Take-In system is an economical solution to increase power and efficiency of the propulsion, converting energy coming from exhaust gases of main engine into free of charge electric power.
This additional electric power is used in the electric motor installed on the main shaft line to increase the speed of the vessel. The shaft induction motor can also be used as a Power-Take-Off (PTO) generator because of the full reversibility of the system.
