Traditionally, electric propulsion either used DC motors at variable speed or AC motors synchronously connected to a variable speed turbo-generator. With the advent of solid state AC variable speed drives in the mid-1980's, it has become possible to provide fixed frequency generator systems with high power, variable speed propulsion motors.

Converteam’s supply consists in a full electrical propulsion system and also hybrid systems where the electric drive is combined with a mechanical drive.

Our scope: from diesel-generator, switchboard, transformers, drives, to propulsion motor and gearbox if any, including complete engineering, commissioning, and after-sales service all around the world.
