Converteam is a pioneer in high-speed direct-drive technology and has developed a complete range of induction motors to meet all speed and performance requirements of pump and compressor systems.
The Converteam solution is based on a patented design of a two-pole induction motor with squirrel cage and laminated rotor and is unique in the marketplace. It has a clear edge on mechanical solutions and offers increased value versus traditional geared electrical solution.
Converteam provides fully integrated motor-compressor units (up to 19,000 rpm – up to 17MW). In that case, the motor and the centrifugal compressor are installed inside the same pressured casing where the process gas is used to cool the motor. No gearbox is then required.
Converteam high-speed motors can also be provided in standalone arrangement with the capability to operate at very high-speed (up to 20,000 rpm – up to 30MW). This design, for which lubricated or magnetic bearings can be used, is adaptable to any compressors or pumps and is offered when the process gas cannot be used to cool the motor. It can also be used to replace gas or steam turbines.
Converteam’s environmentally-friendly solution offers the advantages of high efficiency, low noise emission drivers, maximum flexibility and low maintenance due to absence of auxiliaries.
