Building on a commitment to provide enhanced levels of responsiveness and support for customers in Australia, power conversion specialist Converteam, a GE Energy (NYSE: GE) business, today celebrated the opening of its new commercial and technical support office in Sydney.
Converteam has announced that it has been selected for the development of a number of testing facilities for the rapidly expanding global wind industry.
The state of the art facilities are under development by customers worldwide.
In the UK Converteam has been contracted as technical leader for a wind turbine testing centre in Blyth at the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), the UK’s leading centre for advancing the development and integration of renewable energy through technology-led innovation.
Converteam has announced its readiness to commence manufacture of its variable frequency drilling drives and medium voltage switchboards at its production facility in Betim close to Belo Horizonte in Brazil.
Preparations, which have been ongoing over a period of several months, have necessitated long term knowledge sharing between Converteam’s UK drilling equipment specialists and their Brazilian counterparts.
Power conversion specialist Converteam has been selected as the supplier of Integrated Power Systems (IPS) to the U.S. Navy with the award of an additional multi-million dollar contract to design and supply the complete electric power, propulsion and vessel automation system for the Mobile Landing Platform (MLP) program. The MLP program adds to Converteam’s market leadership experience with the U.S. Navy’s IPS fleet, which includes DDG 1000, T-AKE, LHD 8 and LHA 6.
Converteam in partnership with the U.S. Navy have successfully tested the DDG 1000’s high voltage Integrated Power System (IPS)(1) to full power at the Land Based Test Site located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
