Converteam’s power conversion technology is ideal for medium to large grid connected photovoltaic plants. The optimum configuration consists of a number of PV modules feeding a common bus with multiple power converters providing the grid interface. Efficiency is maximized with using software tracking algorithms, operating each sub-array at its maximum. Such a scheme allows shaded sub-arrays to continue to provide power at the reduced level. The configuration is scalable from some hundreds kW up to several MWs. This technology can also be used in fuel-cell and other applications, where low voltage and high current is the product of the energy converter cells.
