Converteam has three entities in China -Converteam China in Shanghai, CONWAC in Wuhan and the recently established Converteam Rotating Machines in Yantai- as well as a sales office in Beijing.
Set up in 2005 to develop Converteam business in China, the Shanghai unit now provides efficient support for all Group activities along with global sourcing support and services. A manufacturing workshop was opened in 2006 to assemble and test Converteam drives for the Chinese market locally. Converteam has confirmed its leading position in China's booming wind business by developing new customer relationships and by manufacturing our ProWind low-voltage inverter for China's domestic wind market. Converteam China also serves the Marine, Oil & Gas and Offshore, and Industry sectors.
The new factory opened in Yantai in 2009 for the manufacture of motors and generators will help Converteam strengthen its position in electrical machines, not only in China but also worldwide.
CONWAC is a Joint Venture with WISCO (Wuhan Iron & Steem Corporation), one of the major steel players in China. From its traditional focus on processing lines, CONWAC has gradually extended its scope and know-how to rolling mills. CONWAC is now awarded contracts oustside WISCO.
