Building on a commitment to provide enhanced levels of responsiveness and support for customers in Australia, power conversion specialist Converteam, a GE Energy (NYSE: GE) business, today celebrated the opening of its new commercial and technical support office in Sydney.
Converteam was recently chosen by EBG MedAustron GmbH, an Austrian government owned corporation, for the pulsed power supply for a particle accelerator dedicated to cancer treatment for the MedAustron medical center. This cancer therapy treatment center, with clinical and non-clinical research, is under construction in Wiener Neustadt County of Lower Austria.
Converteam has announced that it has been selected for the development of a number of testing facilities for the rapidly expanding global wind industry.
The state of the art facilities are under development by customers worldwide.
In the UK Converteam has been contracted as technical leader for a wind turbine testing centre in Blyth at the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec), the UK’s leading centre for advancing the development and integration of renewable energy through technology-led innovation.
Converteam recently signed a contract with NARI Technology Development Company, a major player in the Chinese electric power industry, to supply Static Frequency Converters (SFC) for the 1500 MW Liyang Pumped Storage Power Plant (PSPP), the largest Pumped Storage Power Plant in Jiangsu Province.
Converteam recently signed with Wuhan Iron & Steel Corporation (WISCO), one of China’s largest iron and steel producers, a contract for six green-field processing lines for their silicon steel Qingshan plant aiming to produce the first coil by the end of October 2012.
