Converteam NA has obtained a U.S. Department of Defense Facility Security Clearance. In 2009 the clearance was issued to Converteam Naval Systems Inc., a new organization and separate legal entity within the Converteam Group, based in Pittsburgh. Having this clearance is a major milestone for the organization in that it opens new opportunities, but is also comes with significant responsibilities to protect against unauthorized access to controlled and classified information.
The Research & Development division is also within Converteam Naval Systems. Our engineers work on cutting edge technologies including new power dense drives, next generation naval power systems and power management control, energy efficient applications, compact power conversion technology, acoustics, condition-based monitoring, militarized power and control systems and other government work.
Resources
Converteam Naval Systems has separate laboratories for low-voltage and medium-voltage testing. The medium-voltage test lab is equipped with three safety cages to allow for multiple projects testing, and can support both air- and liquid-cooled equipment.
The facility is capable of handling U.S. Department of Defense classified and ITAR-restricted equipment and information. Technical Specialties include power electronics, acoustics and vibration, control systems and software configuration management. Marine experience includes retired Navy engineering duty officers and Merchant Marine Academy graduates, as well as experience in commercial shipyards and supervisors of shipbuilding offices. Converteam Naval Systems also has extensive experience in Government service, including Naval Sea Systems Command, Military Sealift Command, and the Naval Air and Surface Warfare Centers.
