Today, start-up converters are generally used for starting gas turbo generators and pump-fed power stations. The power densities of the converters supplied by ALSTOM are included between approx. 350kW and 40MW, the main focus being at approx. 4MW. The corresponding power station generators are between approx. 20MVA and 500MVA with the main focus being at approximately 200MVA. Over 240MVA, start-up converters from ALSTOM are used around the world. Our scope of delivery comprises:

• Water-cooled medium-high voltage converter with max. 20kV for pump-fed power stations, which run on a nominal generator voltage
• Air-cooled low-voltage converters with max. 4.5kV for systems, which are not synchronized using the converter, this therefore being gas-turbine systems.
