The ALSPA VDM7000 is a GTO 3-level medium Voltage Source Inverter (VSI)for high power ranges (5-18MVA). With series or parallel connection it is possible to handle higher ratings. The ALSPA VDM7000 is a high dynamic drive system for synchronous or asynchronous motors and is especiallly suitable for large low and high speed drives for metals, compressors etc. The standard solution on the mainsvside is a GTO 3-level VSI (active front end) or a 12-pulse diode system. Advantages for the user:

• low voltage stress for the motor insulation
• lower pulsating torques
• no output filter necessary for the motor
• high efficiency
• low derating at the low speed area

The ALSPA VDM7000 requires a high-quality control system which, besides precise and high dynamic drive control, the PEC VME-Multiprocessor system. The control interface board (CIB 232) with the powerful TMS32044 signal processor is used for the converter near control algorrthms of the 3-level VSI at the mains and motor ends. The graphic MATLAB/SIMULINK development system can be used to program the CIB 232. The higher level control tasks are handled by the Logidyn D2 system.
