Compensation and Large Conversion Systems

Converteam offers performing and cost-effective solutions through the design and manufacturing of compensation systems that compensate electrical disturbances generated by large-scale consumers and therefore improve power quality and increase process productivity:

• The conventional solution proposed for power factor compensation and flicker mitigation is based on thyristor controlled reactors (TCR) linked to filters.
• For higher dynamic performances, the second solution is a state-of-the-art dynamic var compensation system, based on Voltage Source Converters (VSC), using the IGBT topology.
• Converteam also proposes most advanced solutions for high power Electric Arc Furnace, such as single-phase converters with higher thyristor sizes for AC Electric Arc Furnace. We have also developed a special DC rectifier with free-wheeling diodes and shifting control which decreases medium DC ripple, provides better power factor with less harmonics and less power losses.
